CHARACTERISTICS
- Electronic transformers designed and manufactured in compliance with the current European standards (EN 61046). The standard products are IMQ approved. Special versions for US or UK markets are manufactured according to the different power supply voltages. The mark identifies products suitable for installing on flammable surfaces, while products with the mark are suitable for installing inside furniture items. In addition, most of the electronic transformers comply with the SELV requirements of the EN60598 standard, the other models with SELV-equivalent requirements.
- The best operating conditions of the light bulbs are obtained with high frequency power supply (30-50kHz), which is normally used for electronic transformers, and with the adoption of advanced technological solutions. By limiting the starting current (soft-start) and keeping it within strict limits, the variations of the secondary current significantly increase the average life of the light bulbs.
- Electronic transformers protected against overloads, power surges and short circuits. The progressive thermal protection is normally obtained by means of an automatic reactivation thermistor; protection can be restored in some models by resetting the main voltage. This ensures excellent short circuit protection along the entire length of the connection wires of the light bulbs.
- Electronic transformers can be adjusted with trailing edge dimmers (IGBT). Some models can be dimmed by phase control on the leading edge (TRIAC). Some in-line or in-built models are equipped with slider or micro-switch, while other dimmers can be controlled externally by means of a potentiometer or separate button or even by touch control.
- The MOSEFT transformers can support very low loads (even lower than 5W).
- Electronic transformers designed taking into consideration the importance of dimensions, in particular the height of enclosures. Even models with high voltages (up to 180W) can be installed in holes with a minimum diameter of only 45 mm.

 ADDITIONAL NOTES ON THE INSTALLATION AND USE OF THE ELECTRONIC TRANSFORMERS

 - The transformer must be installed in a ventilated area and, however, the ambient temperature must be compatible with the temperature reported on the product label (ta).
- During normal operation, the temperature on the "tc" point must not exceed the "tc" temperature indicated on the transformer. A "tc" temperature close to a high "ta" temperature indicates a very energy-efficient transformer.
- The transformers must be used with incandescent or halogen light bulbs (resistive loads) with power and voltage within the limits reported on the product label. Overloads may cause malfunctions.
- A gradual start (soft start) may cause significant delays in the start-up of the light bulb, especially at maximum load.
- If dimming devices are used, compatibility with the transformer must be verified (only IGBT or TRIAC dimmers are suitable).
- In case of installation in three-phase plants, the transformer must be isolated by means of a double pole switch. Isolation with a single pole switch is also possible on one of the phases if the neutral wire is always connected.
- In general, it is recommended to place the transformer at a suitable distance (around 200 mm) away from the light bulb and, in any case, away from heat sources.
- The connection wires to the light bulbs must have an adequate length. In general, distances of over 2 metres are not recommended in order to avoid excessive voltage drops.
- The connection wires to the light bulb must have proper cross-sections. In general, a cross-section of 0.5 mm for every 50W is recommended.
